Premmie Knitting Club has a volunteer board with four current members (see below for bios). All board members have a connection to the NICU and/or knitting and aim to operate a charity that provides support in a tangible way and donates as much as possible to hospitals and organisations that look after premature babies. We are interested in working with an array of people and supporting a range of organisations, PKC believes that we can achieve more if we work together.
Courtney Bennett (Founder and Volunteer Board Member)
Courtney is the Founder and Chief Coordinator of PKC. Courtney was a preemie baby, she works in HR and Communications and lives in Auckland with her family.
Michelle Bennett (Volunteer Board Member)
Michelle is Courtney’s mum and an important part of the PKC team. She collects and organises many of the parcels and knitting that comes directly to us and generally keeps things going. Michelle also works full time at Benefitz and is a board member of another non profit organisation called Abilities.
Nina McHardy (Volunteer Board Member)
Nina represents the Australian part of PKC and is based in Melbourne, Australia. She is one of our original supporters and cheerleaders so it’s an honour to have her expertise in an official capacity. Nina’s marketing skills make her a valuable asset to PKC. She works in the construction industry and leads a team of communication and marketing specialists.
Britt Collard (Volunteer Board Member)
Britt is Creative Director of her own brand and design consultancy. With an entrepreneurial mindset and a creative eye, she’s joined the PKC board to increase brand awareness. Britt's Nana taught her to knit, and she loves gifting her creations to premmie babies.
Natalie Iogha (Creative Consultant)
Natalie is PKC’s knitting rockstar, a much loved former board member and know a creative consultant, providing much needed support for everything related to knitting. Nat has designed custom patterns that knitters can knit then donate back to Premmie Knitting Club.
Nat studied at the Royal School of Needlework at Hampton Court Palace and has a degree in Visual Arts from the Auckland University of Technology. She was manager for Morris & Sons for several years in Australia where she was instrumental in the launch of the Morris Yarns range, designed kits for Morris Needlecraft and taught knitting and sewing.
